Street tires are perfectly suitable for most riders and offer the largest contact patch which leads to the highest stability. If you find yourself grazing through wet leaves, puddles or mud now and again, then hybrid tires are probably your best bet. Offroad tires are obviously the best for loose dirt, and exclusively offroad tires, but keep in mind your traction, speed, and efficiency will be slightly lower due to the increased rolling resistance added by the knobby tread.
